'Prentiss X Fem!Reader: Black Lace' Cover by TheConfusedVampire

You’re reasonably new to the Behavior Analysis Unit, but, not that new and surprisingly you got their names down very quickly. They all seem like wonderful people. You can still remember you’re first day you arrived.

----

“Hello, Agent (y/n). I’m Agent Rossi. I still can’t believe they have the funding for another agent on the team.” Said Rossi nonchalantly.

“Agent Rossi? I’ve read you’re books. Though you don’t seem like the type of person to care.” You smirked.

“You’re defiantly a profiler now, peaches.” You heard Penelope Garcia come up from behind you. You play an online game together and smile as soon as you see her. You call her Penn.

You manage to meet Reid who you have connection with about facts, Morgan who is as much a hero type as Penn says, J.J. who has a nurturing warm personality practically as if her golden hair was made of light, as well as your boss you met over the phone, Agent Hotchner. You actually find his expressionlessness a nice personality trait. That was when you heard someone else enter the room.

“Sorry, I’m late. There was some construction I didn’t know about on my way. You must be Agent (y/n). I’m Agent Emily Prentiss.” She held her hand out. She has the most gorgeous black hair you’ve ever seen. As beautiful as black lace.

“Yes, nice to meet you.” You said shaking her hand firmly. You feel your pulse quicken, your face grow a bit warm, and you force yourself to keep your hands steady. You have pretty good self-discipline. You could practically hide a heart attack, even from a profiler.

----

Ever since that day you’ve had a thing for Prentiss. The only one who knows you…. Have gay tenancies, is Penn and you want to keep it that way. It was eating you up inside. Though you just moved to Quantico and don’t have any family or friends to talk to.

“Hey? (y/n)?” Asks Prentiss snapping you back to reality as soon as the sound of her saying you’re name jolted your heart. “I asked if you wanted to come without us tonight.”

You snap out of it. “You’re inviting me out dancing?” You rub the back neck

“That’s what we said, Baby Girl the 2nd.” Smirks Morgan.

“You’re family now after all.” Smiles Penn.

“Okay.” You smile kind of shyly.

You are dragged out of paperwork that night by Penelope Garcia demanding a change of wardrobe since you don’t have much except business suits now.

“Come on. There’s a chance you might meet someone.” Chimes an excited Penelope looking over clothes at the mall.

“I told you I don’t want our team to know.”

                “They don’t have to know.”

“Besides, I can’t ‘meet someone’.” You turn away from her.

“You already like someone.” She says almost serious.

“I really don’t want to get into it, Penn.” You start biting your nails nervously.

“Do I know them?” She comes to stand in front of you.

“It’s embarrassing.” You put your hand on the side of your face.

“I doubt it’s that bad.” She begs.

                You shyly murmur, “Prentiss.”

She looks at you shocked. “Wow.” She smiles.

“Yeah. My stomach even does this flip thing every time she walks in a room. Can we just get ready and leave?”

“Okay. You’ll need to wear something black then.” She nods.

“Why?” You look at her confused.

“She likes the color black. The least I could do is impress her.”

    “Thank you.” You whisper.

The place that you are going to is a bar. It’s not too big, but, not to small. They play hit songs, today’s music and older. You sit down at the bar and order a glass of red wine. You feel the dress drape around your ankles as you grab your necklace that you never take off. It’s a small solid heart pendant and chain in white gold with a small diamond in the center. Also, you always make sure you always have work clothes with you, just in case.

“Aren’t you going to dance?” Asks Prentiss sitting down next to you holding a glass of her own.

“I’m not a dancing kind of person.” You smirk feeling a bit buzzed, more by her presence than the booze. “I have plenty of fun watching.”

“I understand that.” She smiles and takes a sip. “I don’t normally dance much either.”

“So, I heard you’re the goddess of the law.” You half smile.

                She laughs, “Hardly.”

“Excuse me, how many languages do you speak?” You laugh.

“That doesn’t mean anything.” She says taking a drink.

“Sure it does.” You smile as you take a drink, too.

“How are you ladies?” Asks Morgan coming up from behind you with Garcia at his side.

“Hey, Morgan.” You chime feeling his hand on your shoulder.

“You going to dance?” He asks you suggesting something you know he’s going to make you do no matter what your answer is.

“I don’t think so.” You smile turning him down anyway.

“Well, I do. Come on.” He grabs your arm.

“What about Prentiss?! She isn’t dancing either.” You protest secretly wanting to dance with her and you’re hating yourself for it.

“Hey. Don’t drag me into this.” She scolds, but, with a smile.

That’s when Hotch comes over and says the signature, “We have a case.” As the teams pagers go off.

                “Saved by Hotch.” Prentiss jokes.

----

AT THE BAU

----

“Three days ago the Nolan family in Port Angles, Washington called 911 reporting a robbery and assault. Last night they were found dead. There were other similar cases connected to this one over jurisdictional lines. W-With- Well, you got the pictures.” Stammers Penn.

“They vomited blood and a lot of it. Are those wounds self-inflected?” You speak up.

“It looks like they were trying to cut something out of their skin, but, some of them are post-mortem.” Says Hotch.

“Even their pets?” Says Prentiss raising an eyebrow in curiosity.

“The whole house was full of poison mist and effected everything living there.” Penn adds.

“Let’s get on the jet before we discuss any further.” Hotch says.

You head out of the room to get your ‘on a case’ bag from your car. When you get on the same elevator with Prentiss as she pushes a button she asks, “Which floor?”

“Same.” You say calmly, on the outside atleast.

“There’s something different about you.” She says.

“What do you mean?” You ask.

                The elevator door opens.

“I don’t know.” She says walk walk out of the elevator into a parking ramp. It wasn’t in a joking tone either.

You follow, “You’re a profiler. What do you mean you don’t know?”

Prentiss says nothing walking in the opposite direction of your car.

----

PORT ANGLES, WASHINGTON (CRIME SCENE)

----

“Put these on.” Says a local detective handing everyone a mask. “The house has been cleared of the gas, but, you can never be too careful.”

                Everyone puts them on.

It’s a large house that the crime was done in. Before you go inside you say, “The space between the houses and they’re size, It’s very likely that no body heard anything.”

“Even if there is a big space between the neighbors, it’s not so big they couldn’t still notice something unusual.” Adds Rossi.

As you head into the house your hand bumps with Prentiss’s and you quickly pull it away. You then slip on some latex gloves. And head toward the parent’s bedroom. You look for something specific. You are quite tall and the ceiling is little low, so, you just reach up on your tip toes. You soon pull out a small camera out of the ceiling light.

“Ah. You’re famous intuition, huh?” There is a smile in the voice that was stepping into the room. When you were a detective in your hometown you were known for your ‘amazing’ insight. They said you were like ‘Monk’. You even did that head tilt thing sometimes.

“You don’t know what you’re talking about when you speak, yet, you know about that.” You say jokingly and head over to the lamp near the bed to pull out the microphone bug.

                “To shay.” Prentiss smirks.

“Do you think we’ll get to sleep tonight?” You ask.

                “I highly doubt it.”

“That’s what I thought.” You sigh. “It’s too bad we have to be here on the job.”

“Have you been here before?” Ask Prentiss curiously.

“Yeah. I’ve loved it here ever since I vacationed here as a teenager.” You smile.

----

BACK AT THE POLICE DEPARTMENT (12AM)

----

“You’re saying there is nothing we can do until he kills someone else?” Says the same detective from earlier sharply.

“Everyone is exhausted. It would be best to go to the hotel and rest. Then start fresh tomorrow.” Says Hotch in his usual tone.

Everyone stands up. “Can I ride with you and Reid to the hotel?” You ask Prentiss.

“Sure.” Prentiss and Reid say together.

“Thanks. I’m not sure I can drive. I diddn’t sleep well last night…. well, I mean the last night I slept.” You rub the back of your neck.

“Welcome to the club.” Says Rossi standing behind you.

    You laugh.

You are soon in the usual federal black SUV. You are in the front seat with Reid driving. The hotel isn’t that far away.  You zone out and just stare at the air vent. When you realize something, “The Unsub had to have known the houses before the break in and not just in them like a plumber or an cable man. He had to know the house better than that.”

You hear Prentiss’s voice behind you and feel her breath on your neck which makes you shiver instantly, “They had to know the venting system in and out. After all the poison was designed to kill slowly.”

Soon Penn was searching for anyone who had worked on the house recently as everyone heads into the hotel for sleep. Soon you are in your room and showering. You turn the temperature on cool, but, not cold. The temperature feels great on your feverish skin. You haven’t been feeling well as of lately and even the cool climate of Port Angles isn’t cool enough.

After you get out of the shower and wrap a towel around your body and your head there is a knock on the door. “_______? It’s Prentiss.”

You crack open the door and she slips in. You feel your heart hammering against your rib cage.

“Why are you so calm?” She says sitting down at the table near the air vent.

“What do you mean?” You ask pulling your hair free and tossing it around.

“You didn’t even flinch when you saw those pictures. You didn’t exactly come from a place with a high crime rate.” She says seriously.

“I’m not afraid of anything anymore and not much surprises me either.” You say calmly combing your hair in the mirror.

“Why is that? You didn’t work on any cases anything like this in your hometown.”

“How do you know that?” You look at her sternly.

“I may have asked Penelope a favor. Maybe.” She smirks.

“You’re not the only one with a secret past, Prentiss.” You turn back to the mirror.

“I know I have a lot of secrets, but, I really want to know.” She sighs.

“Really?” You smile at her through the mirror.

“I’ll trade you.” Prentiss says seriously.

“Secrets? Even government ones?” You laugh and sit down on the bed.

    “Yes.” She’s still serious.

“Wait, a second that’s illegal.” You turn around.

“Yes, it is.” She says folding her legs.

You are quiet for a long moment, “You are forbidden to tell the team.” You say sternly.

    “You know I won’t.”

“Fine….” You take a breath. “It started when I was about 5 or 6 and just progressed from there. Many experiences, raped by a neighbor, abuse by a babysitter, beatings at school, sociopathic father who drinks too much. I never grew up around my dad, but, I used to visit him and as a little girl I wasn’t afraid of monsters in my closet. I was afraid of him. I tried to commit suicide for the first time when I started harming myself when I was in 2nd or 3rd grade, like pretending to fall down. I tried to kill myself by 7th grade, slit my throat, overdose, and jump out of the car on the interstate. Most of it was odd for a female actually. Yeah. So, I’ve pretty much lived through it all. I know how it feels to be terrified all the time and I want to stop that from happening to someone else. Especially since no one could stop them for me.”

She had looked upset the entire time you spoke and got up in the middle of it to sit next to you. On Prentiss this looked like a sense of understanding and empathy, but, also she look a little bit mad. “You are much stronger than I am. You come into work every day with that smile on your face.” She says.

“No. Nobody is stronger than you Prentiss.” You laugh.

    ”That right there.”

“What?” You instinctively tilt your head a little.

“You’re adorable. Aren’t you too old for that?” She laughs.

You feel your turn red, “Aren’t you a little too Emily Prentiss to be joking happily all the time?” Because, she had been lately. She doesn’t say anything. “Well, I need to get dressed for bed.” You stand up and it seems Prentiss had sat on the edge of your towel. It slips off your body. “Oh my god!” You scrabble to get it back, face beet red, as you have one arm over your chest with your legs crossed. When you finally get the towel back you lean against the wall wrapped up again. You suddenly meet eyes with Prentiss. “Are you…. Blushing?....” You say without thinking.

She touches her face. Then quickly heads out the door. “See you in the morning.” The door almost slams shut.

The next morning you hear a knock on your door as you sip a cup of coffee in your room. “(y/n)?” Says Rossi’s voice.

You open the door. You had changed into a black suit and deep red blouse with short black leather boots. You pulled up the sides of your hair that hung down your back and swayed as you walked. “Good Morning, sir.” You smile.

“Prentiss asked us to have you ride with us. It seems she wanted to start extra early this morning.” He says sounding suspicious.

“Oh, I see. I just need to grab my gun. I don’t like to wear it a breakfast.”  You say.

“Okay. Hotch and I will be waiting by the car.” He turns down the hallway.

You grab your gun and leave. You reapply lip-gloss in the mirror on the way to the station.

----

ANOTHER DAY LATER AT SUSPECT’S HOUSE

----

After a while of searching Penn found a couple people who sound a lot like the unsub. The team had figured out that it was a white male in his 40’s who was a sexual sadist. He put cameras in the home to see every moment of their suffering and as they started to hallucinate he broke into the home and tortured them himself. He wasn’t satisfied with just watching. He most likely was composed individual and a good liar. Mostly likely a pure psychopath.

Hotch had ordered you and Prentiss to go to the house of Daniel Swavah, one of the suspects. Prentiss had been avoiding you, but, she couldn’t now. When you were in the car with her you didn’t know what to say. Soon you were knocking on a door ready to grab your gun any second. “Mr. Swavah, FBI! Open up!” There was nothing for a long moment after you shouted, so, you kick the door down. You and Prentiss head in. Completely alert and focused you look for the unsub. Your bullet proof vest cut into your shoulder blades a bit like jeans that were too tight as you held you gun. You eventually come across a drop down ladder upstairs that goes to an attic. You pull it down, but, still holding your gun then all of a sudden there is a flash and you’re forced to lean against a wall for support. You feel a sharp pain in the side of your neck. You touch your neck and there’s blood and it seems a chunk of skin missing, so, you try to hold the side of your neck in shock and feeling weak when there’s another shot into your shoulder as you slide down the wall to lay on the floor. All of a sudden Prentiss is there, “No! Put it down!” She yells as the unsub was about to shoot you for a third time and she gets in between you and the unsub. “You love her, don’t you?” He says to Prentiss.

“What?” Says Prentiss sharply and glaring at him.

“I can’t feel love, but, I’ve seen it. No matter the gender, it’s all disgusting.” She raises his gun again and she shoots him between the eyes.

He and his gun fall out of the ceiling. The gun falls far from his body.

Prentiss kneels down next to you and takes her suit jacket off and rips it. Then places it against your neck.

“P-prentiss….” You croak.

“Shh.” She says and gets on the phone, “Officer down!” She finishes telling them where you’re at then lays your head in her lap. “They’re on their way.”

“W-what…. Did he…. Mean?” You ask in a rough voice.

“I can’t….” She trails off and pushes her hair behind her ear. Then seems as if she’s trying not to bite her fingernails.

“I might…. die, Emily…. So, I need…. To tell you…. I’ve had a…. secret…. For a…. long time…. I’m gay….” You whisper and give a look that said the rest of it.

She then brushes your hair off your forehead and kisses it, “That’s the first time you called me, Emily. You’ll be fine.”

You look at her in complete shocked, more shock then from the gun wounds, then fall unconscious. You can barely hear her say, “Don’t you dare die on me!”

Based off of the "Criminal Minds" fictional character "Emily Prentiss", NOT Paget Brewster.
